I’m gonna level with you here: this post is all about asking for your money. My Patreon page is finally complete and looking fine as hell, and it’s all set to launch on December 10th! Just in time for the holidays! What better way to celebrate annual wintertime festivities than to give cash money to a stranger on the internet? I promise I won’t waste it on more turtlenecks.
If you’re new here, you might be saying to yourself, “Why is this stranger asking for my money?” The answer is this: Sex and The Rest takes a lot of work. Maybe it doesn’t seem like it, but it adds up. To give you an idea, I spend anywhere from half an hour to two hours when I interview someone for a post. I then have to listen to the recording of that interview before I can write. Then, it’s around two to four hours to write the post itself. Of course, there’s also the time spent creating a graphic for the post—that’s another hour or so. And that’s just for the blog posts alone.
This means that, in order for me to churn out content on a regular basis, I’m gonna need to devote myself to Sex and The Rest full-time. And that’s just not possible when I’m trying to hold down other full-time jobs. With money raised on Patreon, Sex and The Rest can become my job—I’ll have the financial freedom to create important content on a regular basis. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
So why December 10th? It’s a significant date for two reasons. Not only is December 10th the final day of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, it’s also International Human Rights Day. It feels fitting to prioritize access to safe, judgement-free, and inclusive sexual education on this day.
As you’re waiting with baited for the launch date of Sex and The Rest’s Patreon page, why not get familiar with Patreon? Chances are, there are probably a few other creators you love hanging out there too.
Until next time, keep reading, keep following, keep being your dope-ass selves.
Stay sexy, friends.
