After weeks of lead up, during which I annoyed every single one of my IG and FB followers, the Sex and The Rest Patreon page has finally launched! This fills me with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. It’s always so uncomfortable asking people for money, and the last thing I want to do is annoy my followers. But, I really want Sex and The Rest to become a self sustaining resource, and I just can’t do that without your help.
If you already know all about Patreon, you can skip to the next paragraph, but here’s a quick explanation for those of you who still don’t know what all the fuss I’ve been making about Patreon is about. Basically, Patreon is modelled off of old school patronage. Back in olden times, writers and artists like Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and Da Vinci were supported by wealthy patrons. Through this patronage, they were able to devote their time solely to creating their art—something they wouldn’t have been able to afford without the financial backing of the uber wealthy. Patreon takes this concept, and makes it possible in the modern era. Patrons follow their favourite creators’s profiles, support them by pledging a certain amount of money per month, and receive special perks for their financial contributions. Patrons don’t even have to be extremely wealthy like in the past: they can pledge as little as $1 a month.
The Sex and The Rest Patreon page will be the place to keep up with me as I continue to work on Sex and The Rest. Here you can view my goals as a creator and watch me journey towards them. You can also see all the dope rewards I have to offer.
Patreon isn’t the only way to support Sex and The Rest. One time donations are also incredibly helpful. You can even support me by hiring me as a freelance writer. And of course, you can support Sex and The Rest for free by reading, following on social media, and telling your friends about it. Check out my support page to learn more about how you can help keep Sex and The Rest up and running.
I’m so excited to share this journey with you, and I can wait to watch Sex and The Rest grow. Thank you for your support—it’s so, so appreciated, regardless of whether it comes in the form of money, Instagram follows, or readership.
Stay sexy, friends.
